    1969 Side Exhaust Question

    I have a 1969 350/350 convertible with side exhaust. It looks to be original with the correct parts number rear valance valance and other criteria from the judging manual. I also have the POP for the car but the gas tank was replaced in the past and I do not have a tank sticker. Would the POP list the N14 option ?
    Thaks for any comments,
    Steve

    Re: 1969 Side Exhaust Question

    Steve I would guess and say no since I don't have a 69 with side exhaust.
    My 68 POP does not show telescopic steering and my 70's POP does not show power steering, power brakes, or factory air conditioning.

      The codes which are displayed on the PoP are in the opening pages of the AIM. Check it out -- you may find it lists more than you think. That said, before I comment on side exhaust I would want to check the AIM. I know in 1970 it shows U69/79 -- but that is not the question you asked.

        Steve, Terry, Jim
        My POP for original owner side exhaust car does not have not have N14 listed. It has the motor and serial number. Also has AK0304W
        P9C11 and vertical R 3 and a bowtie. What do the other letters and numbers mean?
        Regards

          It is not only the numbers and letters, John, but their location on the PoP that tells what they mean.

          Without the code breaking ability of the AIM -- I just haven't a clue. I know it is in THE AIM.

          No I am not going to get mine and do the work for all of you for two reasons 1) They are not accessible right now AND more importantly:
          2) If I had them in front of me I couldn't see them. I am having eye problems.

          Edit add: As I re-read this it sounds a little harsh. Sorry, I didn't intend that. I am more than a little frustrated at the moment (but not with you guys), and some of that is coming through.

            John

            As Terry says, some but not all option were stamped into the POP. Side exhaust is one of the options that is not. You must use other means to tell it it is orignal.

            The AK0304W is the rear end code and date:
            AK = 3.36:1 ratio
            0304 = March 4
            W = Warner Gear
            If your rear end is original to the car you should find this same number stamped on the bottom of the rear end flange.

            The P9C11 is the transmission code and date:
            P= Muncie
            9 = Model year of car
            C11 = March 11
            You should find this same number plus your vin stamp on the passenger side of of your transmission if it is original.

            R = Rochester carburetor
            3 = Month built
            They all have the bow tie symbol

              John
              Thanks for the refresher course. FYI The transmission is dated 6 days before the car was built.
