Karl, alot of the 56-7 restoration use the repro grill ovals and from what I've seen they looked good. Less costly than rechroming. For what it's worth - at the Florida Regional rumor was that they weren't going to make any more repro's as the minimum order was 800 and the current supply's getting thin. Gary....

About a month ago when I asked Corvette Specialties Of Maryland for a price quote on the grille oval along with the price their reply stated that when the current supplies were exhausted they would not be making another production run. Rich

        Thanks Gary.
A friend of mine had an oval and two headlight bezels rechromed last year
at a cost of $2000.00. They really looked nice, but like you mentioned the
cost of replating is high. Then again, original is nice to re-install.
My original is pitted pretty bad and has a hole or two drilled in it. Have no
idea why. Repair would just add to the total cost. Plus having the teeth and bar done would add to the total amount.
I see Vendors have the whole assembly, (oval, teeth, bar and hardware)
for under $1,500. Someone on ebay has them from time to time also.

Are the repro Grills made in the USA?

        Thanks again Gary.

        Karl.

          Hi! Richard,
Gary also said the end is near.
How do you feel about the Repros?
I heard at one time that the grill teeth were more pointed than the originals and would lose points if the car was Judged?
          Karl.

the repo's are oriental and Corvette spec of mareyland was the source. they're all gone except for some seconds and they may be exhausted also. way cheaper than having originals rechromed. i've got them in a couple of our 54 to 57's. they fit well. mike

              Thanks Mike.

I was wondering about the Judging aspect of the repros? ( if I ever get
              that far)

Karl, the ovals and bars Judge well. Original grill teeth edges were fairly sharp - not rounded. Most the repro grill teeth have a sharp not rounded edge to them now. Gary....

                  Thanks Gary,
I think I'll go that route then.
I'll keep my original grill/oval in case I change my mind.
