    spark plug wire routing

    Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered. I searched but no luck. For my '70, I'm routing new plug wires on the passenger side. I'm mostly concerned with the front two wires as the rear seem pretty straightforward. The AIM shows the front two going through one clip together. I have two clips available. One has the wires in it, then they go up underneath the engine mount to the plugs. There is another clip toward the front of the oil pan which has nothing through it and I'm not sure if the front wire would even reach that far.

First question: should the wires go between the motor mount and the block? Seems like a very tight fit. The old wires are not easy to get out.

Second: what about the clips mounted along the oil pan? Is the front one used for spark plug wires?

Third: The clip on the starter had one wire going through it. I'm assuming this was wrong.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Greg, The Best Way To Get The Wires Up Through The Motor Mount Is To Remove The Boots On Those Wires Then Wd 40 The Wires And Slide Boots Back On. The Wire Routed On Top Of Starter Is Wrong, It Runs Through The Metal Shielding, The Clip Under Sheilding Are For The Two Wires That Go Through The Mounts Both Left And Right. Hope This Helps. Good Luck,ed

Greg the two front wires on the passenger side go in the clip like you have mentioned and also like you mentioned go between the motor mount and block.
To install the two front new wires a little easier, remove the boot from the distirbutor end of the new wires and insert this end between the motor mount and engine block and route through the oil pan mounted clip into the rubber insulator and on to the distributor cap and reinstall the boot on the wires.
One clip about midway on both sides of the oil pan retain the respective front plug wires.

Thanks, Ed. I think that covers. it. I'll see if I can make it work.
