    69 Wiper Arms & Blades

    Guys,
I bought my 69 coupe with no wiper arms or blades. I have read a variety of articles about these and most are contradictory. Were the 69 arms and blades black finish or silver cad, zinc or what?
Anyone know the best place to buy "correct reproductions"?
    Thanks alot,
    Brad Hood

I just got this email add from corvette america a few hours ago

    Now Available: 1968-1982 Wiper Arms
Replace those worn out wiper arms with these brand new additions.

Brad the arms/blade holders are black I can't with 100% certainty about the blades but Keen corvette parts is now making a very close reproduction wiper arms with washer tubes for about $150-$175 for a pair. Peter Lindahl is the man to see about blade holders and blade inserts. You can email him through the member profiles. Paul 18046

CA has plastic tubes, not correct. They should be black, Corvette Central has arms with copper tubing #653084 for $159.95 plus tax and ship. Check ebay, but that's always a crap shoot.

Both arms and blades were black. This should be covered in your copy of the Judging Guide book...

Brad - Contact Lyle Chamberlain (LC73Vette@aol.com) regarding wiper arms. He should be able to help you. Pete

              Brad,

As said earlier, not cheap but a pair on ebay #130302346280 for $129.95
              or best offer.

The pair on eBay has the flexible washer hose line and would not be correct for a '69. Reproduction washer lines and clips are available but will be about 100.00 just for those parts and you couldn't convert these arms anyway since they are missing the spring covers (or maybe later styles never had them) that are necessary to hold the clips to the arms.

Here are a few shots of mine so you know what you are looking for.

                Regards,

                Jay

Plus when you go shopping for wiper blades, beware of current day, service replacement, blade holders. They have a slightly different geometry than the factory originals which can result in inteference to the metal washer hose lines that are integral to the arms.

Here's a comparison picture of the current replacement blade (upper) to the factory original blade holder (lower). You can see replacement is slightly wider at the center where the blade attaches to the arm. Plus, savvy judges can spot the difference FAST...

I seen the new reproduction wiper arms at the Old Town meet in Janurary and their are some things the judges will be taking deductions for if they know what the originals look like. The $150. per pair is a great price but plan on a deduction for configeration. A person had a pair of the new arms and brought them to a swap space where I had a pair of restored arms for sale. I was able to check them out side by side.
