    1961 Jewel Blue paint

    Hello everyone,
I just finished preparing my 1961 Jewel Blue corvette body for paint. I'm having a hard time getting the correct color Jewel Blue. Does anyone have the paint company to use that has the correct color Jewel Blue for 1961? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Larry

Larry - Lucite 4113-L stock & code number 882-94696L Jewel Blue Metallic
DULUX 181-94696 I also have ACME recipe reference to 1961 Jewel Blue Metallic one year only color (Corvette & full size Chevrolet).

If you present this information to a PPG or other favorite choice they can mix to the exact shade.

Larry, best to always do a "test sprayout" and compare it to original if possible to make sure it's the correct tint. Often in the 56-7 colors the tint's off. If lacquer needs to be a minimum of 6 coats to get proper color tint in Artic Blue as an example. Good luck, Gary....

            Larry,
I just recently painted my interior Jewel Blue. To get the color I contacted our national team leader and he got a couple of original Jewel Blue/ Jewel Blue owners to help me out. I sent them spray outs of our attempts at the color as well as a very good sample from an original dealers album paint selector. They both said that the same one was the best match. We had our paint supplier try to color match and were not 100% happy. We then by chance spoke to a rep from Sherman Williams Automotive finishes and found that they have a stock formula for Jewel Blue available. We got a small can and did a spray out and it was close but they them adjusted it slightly to match the correct swatch as picked by the two owners. We LOVE the outcome. It is a beautiful color. If I can help you any further let me know, but call a Sherman Williams dealer and take a look.
            Good Luck, Mike
