    Front Engine Mount

Is there a difference between a 57 and a 58 front engine mount? I know the cut-out for the water pump hose started in 61.

    Yo Mike...

I think maybe you are talking about the "freeze plug" cut out...???

If we agree, I have some thoughts on this subject. DC

      Re: Front Engine Mount

The 61's have that cutout on the top for the small hose coming off the top of the waterpump. I was thinking that the 60's on back don't have the cutout.
I need one for a 57, and have seen several advertised for 58-60. I was hoping the 57's were the same as the 58-60's.
      Thanks Dennis!

57 dont have a cutout , once in a while you'll see one on e-bay with the logo "original"

Mike, I think Dennis was hitting on it. The main difference is the clearance for the front freeze plug on the passenger side. The early '58s had the same mount as the '57. Some time in '58 they changed the mount to add clearance to get to the front freeze plug. I'd have to go check when the change occurred. The black one is the later version and the orange one is the earlier version. You're looking for the orange one. The pics are from CC site.

the 55 thru early 58 motor mount is as depicted in the orange mount in the previous post. note the PASSENGER side of the mount--in the 55 to early 58 mount, the lower edge is flat without any angles. the black mount, a service replacement, has a non-flat lower edge on the pass side.herein lies ONE of th differences of the 55-early 58 mounts verses the later mounts and service replacments. BTW, the black mount , as pictured, needs to be rotated 180 degrees to be in sync with the orange one.mike
