Since I have not been successful in finding original rear shocks for my 75, which is my best alternative for judging? New black Delco's?; New black Delco's painted original blue/gray? Old Monroe's that better resemble the original Delco's? The judging sheets show 4 points for condition and 4 points for originality.

Re: NCRS Judging question
In the absence of original shocks, my recommendation would be to get the Delco replacement shocks and paint them the correct bluish gray color. Refer to the judging manual for the correct labels and you may be able to create them yourself. Except for Bowtie judging where lifts are used, shock date codes are not usually flight judged due to visual restrictions.- Top

Re: Shock absorbers
I went down this path recently.
Could have purchased original shocks at a price but they needed painting and I did not know whether they were any good.
Ended up buying a complete set on Ebay for $96.00 and they are still advertised on there. They are the black Delco replacements.
I took the Delco stickers off, scuffed them with 400 grit, dusted grey etch primer on them and painted with a grey/bluish acrylic paint.
They came up very well for OEM replacements and will only attract a small deduction I believe.
At least they are new and I know what condition they are in.- Top
