    '72 w/s wiper washer hose

    Hello all,

On a '72 with AC exactly where does the RH side windshield washer hose route through the firewall? I've a hole approx. 3/4"-1" in diameter to the right side of the hoses for the wiper door safety switch with a plastic plug in it thats not being used and I'm guessing this is where the hose should route. Currently the hose is routed through a small hole to the left side of the actuator/valve assy. that opens and closes the wiper door along side of the wires for the hood alarm switch. What's correct?

All advise and help greatly appreciated.

      Terry's right.

See AIM: UPC 1, Sheet D7. If I understand your statement correctly, I think the smaller hole you mention in your thread starter is the one.

Note: requires grommet (GM#3824729) as well.

Kurt, I apologize if this hijacks your thread, however I notice that the clocking of Bryan's windshield washer plate (the white plastic part, just inboard of this thread's subject hole and grommet) has the 2 hose connections on a horizontal orientation. I've seen all 4 possible orientations: horizontal/low, horizontal/high, vertical left and vertical right. As well, I've seen plates that have nipples with a 90 degree angle to them. Most original cars I see show the straight nipples with a vertical/left (IE: clocked 90 degrees right from Bryan's pic) orientation. Does anyone know if they were all the same from the factory, and if so, which way is correct?

Thanks for posting the pic, Bryan. I've been thinking about this one for quite a while...

Thanks Terry, Don and Bryan. My hoses are routed through the firewall as per Bryan's photo. What was confussing is that this car is very original and the hoses appear to be original too, and it's the information found on UPC C60 Sheet E4 shows the RH washer hose being routed through the firewall differently.

Answering Don's question about the hose orientation on the white part, mine are the same as Bryan's.

              Kurt,
I see what you mean about the UPC C60 sheet in the 72 AIM. It looks like the right hose is going in over by the wiper door actuator.

              Don,
Here's a pic of my 68's pump. This is an original pump. It has the barrel connectors for the pump electrical hook-up.
Here's a pic of an extra pump that I have. Both with the straight nipples.
