    chassis inspection marks seminar

I'm beginning the assembly of my chassis and would like to get some guidance on the various chassis inspection marks. Can anyone recommend a seminar (Carlisle?) that could give a good review of these marks and how to best replicate them?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,

I know of two ways to get the information you will need and not have to wait for Carlisle to come around. First purchase a '68-'69 NCRS Judging Manual from the NCRS. That will have most but not all the info you need. Second purchase a Chassis Detailing Kit from Quanta at http://www.quantaproducts.com/departments.asp?dept=252 . That will have the correct paints and stencil you will need for the frame and components.

      Terry,

Thanks for the reply. I have both of those items, but there is still a lack of very specific info on how to apply these marks. As I have read in the forum, these marks are very variable, which is why they are not judged. I had a very original car, but unfortunately I gave the restoration to a knucklehead who knew nothing of documenting this stuff and just sandblasted the entire frame and painted everything. I have since taken the resto over, but what's gone is gone. I am trying to establish how to make these marks with no starting point to go from, and a little more info would be helpful. Do you know if such a seminar exists anywhere?

        Mike,

I don't know of any seminars, but the '70 Corvette Registry web site has a library of photographs of original frame markings. I studied those photos and replicated them as best I could.

Settle in on THE year of your car - nothing from anywhere else matters, because manufacturing requirements/procedures/identifications change.

Then go after the opinions of ORIGINAL OWNER cars in your model year - it's not as hard as you thinkg. Run the free Driveline ad and tell them what you're looking for and why.

          Good luck.
