    C3 Convertible Deck Lid Bumper

In the below picture you can see the difference between the one on my car and the replacement I just got from CC.
The one on my car has only one end squared off, has a tiny "AB" on it, and has a little hole through the top. Does this look original? If so, any idea where I could find either an original or a correctly shaped repo? Thanks

All you need to do is to find an NOS GM #3995062. The problem is that it was discontinued without supercession in August, 1987. Plus, it was a Corvette-only piece, applicable only to 70-75 convertibles. I don't think there will be a lot of these out there. As far as reproductions go, Dr. Rebuild usually has the most accurate reproductions for parts like this. However, I don't know if he does this piece, or not, and I don't know what his look like. For something like this, there may well be only 1 reproduction manufacturing source and that may be what you have.

Thanks Joe. The problem with what I have is the other bumper has broken and is resistant to staying glued back together. I'll try Dr. Rebuild and look for used parts. I appreciate your very helpful info.

I believe the 'original' bumper that's on your car is NOT the factory part. The shape of the reproduction you show is what I'm used to seeing. You can settle the issue pretty quickly though...

Remove what's on your car. Flip it upside down. If it's the real deal part, you'll find its original GM PN embossed in the bottom surface. The reproduction bumpers I've seen lack this detail as it would require a license from GM to make the part to that level of authenticity. Since that can't be seen when the bumper is installed, there's little/no demand for that aspect of the part...
