    Broken '63 FUEL INJECTION emblem

    While walking by my '63 yesterday the cargo pocket of my slacks caught on the front fender FUEL INJECTION emblem and broke the "F" off. The "U" area is bent somewhat. This was a rather new emblem bought from Trim Parts in a pair - one for each fender. Can't buy a new one from them, Corvette Central, etc. as the only sell in pairs. Anyone know if this pot metal emblem can be repaired economically or have a spare?

    Dear Bubba,

    I believe that says it all. Bite the bullet and call Trim Parts or your favorite Corvette parts house.

    But thanks for the humerous moment as we have all been in your shoes.

    Regards,

    Bubba JR

      Been there, done that. 30 years ago, shortly after I acquired my injected '60, I snagged one of the original emblems on my pants and snapped it.

      Talk about a sick feeling.....

        Mike Muggy (muggyweld.com) has the solder that you need to do the repair. Go to his web site and watch the videos. You can probably find a local shop to do it if you don't want to try it yourself. I've had reasonable results with MAP gas, but you really need acetylene to get enough heat. I've also heard some things about problems with the composition of the pot metal and amount of zinc, but my metallurgy is rusty. Maybe some metal workers will chime in.

          There must either be something in the water, or, the new administration is having some kind of adverse affect on us.
          Just this weekend, I was walking past the 56 in the garage and the tail of my raggedy T-shirt snagged the antenna. Broke the antenna housing just below where the black plastic nut screws onto it!!!!!!

            Tom;

            All those 1/4 mile runs at 117 mph finally weakened the antenna to the point where just a little brush - - - well, you get the picture. I'm glad I don't have that problem with the 63.
