Midyear NOS Bumpers and weatherstripping

I have a question about midyear bumpers. For a restoration, should I use NOS bumpers, or would I be better off using bumpers with good cores that are rechromed? I've heard that Paragon has the original stamping equipment and they do make a good bumper. Also, would I be better off using using my old weatherstripping which is in good shape, or replace it too? Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated.

I had Nu Chrome in Fall River Mass do my 1963 cores. They did a great job. My only concern with repro's is the thickness of the bumper and the actual finish. I've done a couple of 63's and have always felt that restoring the original part is always the best route to take.

As far as the weatherstripping is concerned, if it's not cracked, I would go over it with some silicon or some similiar product to restore.

I would hope they have improved the replacement weather stripping today over that available when I last redid mine in 1976. What we got then was too thick and made door closures a real challenge. The upper rear portions of my doors tore in two and I had to splice in the old sections on both.
