C2 Front Suspension Springs

I'm having trouble installing the front springs.

I'm using a floor jack under the lower A-arm and a pry bar.

What is the rating of the front springs on 1964 small block car and what is the best way to get the springs compressed so I can get the spindles back on?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Dave, there are many Archives on this topic. Basically you'll need an 'internal' spring compressor that can be removed out the lower shock hole. Use some washers in your upper shock mount so it isn't crushed etc. seat the spring into the top tower notch, draw it up carefully until you can easily put the floor jack under, with bottom of A arm with lower spindle attached, jack up until you can seat the upper ball joint into the top of the spindle and get the nut on. Dan's right, Dave. The archives will even hold drawings or photos of equipment tools, members have put together for this operation.
The only thing I wanted to add, is BE VERY CAREFUL. About thirty five years ago, I witnessed a spring under compression "coming out". Slow and careful is the only way to safely complete this job.
