    c2 windshield clips/gasket

Any suggestions which vendor is best to purchase the correct/complete windshield clips and gasket for a '65 convertable?
I am looking to purchase the windshield, vent and side glass from Auto City in Isanti, Minnesota any positive or negative feedback?

I had a lot of trouble with the reproduction windshield clips from LIC. The installer ended up reusing the original ones on my 63 convertible.

      Grant:

just did my '65 with Auto City Classic glass, Paragon clips (best grade), and Corvette Rubber's gasket. No problems. Highly recommend Auto City Classic - fit was dead on.

If your car is a roadster, install the lower stainless molding BEFORE the glass goes in. Works like a charm.

Mike, did you get your clips/gasket from Auto City? Also, it seems we are both in Arizona!

          Grant:

I purchased only the glass (dated with logos) from ACC.

The clips I recommend are Paragon 11044K-11. They're USA made and more robust than the Taiwan imports.

The gasket I got from Long Island Corvette Supply as a part of the kit for my whole car. But the pieces are available indivually. You do want the Corvette Rubber Co. product. Their stuff is usually marked "CRC" somewhere on it.

Yup we're down here Tucson way trying to keep from blowing away these days.

I have sold and used several vendors W/S clips and Paragon is the ONLY vendor that sells correct clips. Others just do not work!

Take my advise and purchase the Paragon clips or you will be sorry you ever saw a C-2.

              Mike,

You reccommended installing the lower stainless before glass goes in, why should this be done prior? If stainless is installed prior to glass how does pull the w/s into place as w/s is wrapped around glass. It would seem with the lower stainless installed would imped pulling the w/s into place.

We did my 63 Coupe last Tuesday and we ended up putting the gasket on the bottom first and then putting the windshield in the bottom gasket and putting the gasket on the rest of the windshield. Because it was a Coupe we didn't have to install the mouldings until the windshield was installed. We were able to use the original clips as they were like new after getting cleaned up. It went pretty good with two people outside holding and putting pressure on it and one person inside pulling the cord and rubber. I wanted to try putting the top in first like the factory pilot car photo but I was vetoed by my helpers. The gasket was from Corvette Rubber Co. and looked like it fit well. The windshield was a used one from a midyear dated 65.

                  Lower stainless install - Convertible

                  Mike:

The major advantage of installing the lower stainless before the glass is that you can work with the clips to get the stainless seated perfectly flush on the body. For example, if the molding won't sit quite flush, but the next position on the clip is too far down to engage -- you just reposition the clip with a new hole. Seal the area afterwards of course.

Another advantage is that installing this piece is now a controlled operation, with no need to force it. No risk of chipping paint or dented stainless. And you can get the side to side position right on the money.

One lesson learned: on the ends, don't seat the molding all the way down. Leave the ends one click out. This will make it easier to mate the tips of the side verticals.

We had no problem installing the glass this way. Gasket was installed on the glass first. The bottom of the windshield went in first and just slid right into position on the pinchweld. The rope trick then pulled the rest of the lip into place. My glass guy's comment: "Hey that's a neat trick!"

                    Interesting .

Will have to have a look at your installation process Mike when I install the windshield on my '66 convertible. Sweet!
