    1971 LT-1 Acclerator Return Springs

Judging manual says one black spring. Mine has two springs--one black and one outside it blue. Also length of springs. If I connect them where the AIM book shows they are too long. A picture would be great. Thanks alot.

    Paul,
I might have a picture at home -- but I think that with the manual stating one spring, and the dual springs too long -- you have two clues there. If you like the functional safety of two accelerator return springs, by all means keep them for when you drive the car -- but if they have to be stretched to hook up they will require more pedal pressure to floor it. That will prematurely wear all sorts of things in the accelerator linkage.

I think the proper accelerator spring is available as a reproduction -- at least it was back when I was Team Leader, but that is practically the dinosaur age.

      Paul--
my 30k mile 71 LT-1 convert has original hoses, clamps, belts, exhaust, etc.
The black spring is on it, fits where the AIM indicates, and works fine all by itself.
My assumption is that someone has changed out something/s on yours.
