Re: '58 -'62 Striker plate for door

I caught these on ebay....These look exactly like the ones that I have.....on the wrong boxes...Are these correct for 56 & 57 as the auction states??? I'm just trying to place my incorrect striker door plates in its proper category before I modify them by drilling out center section for rubber bumper....."Sorry for being repetitive"...

    I appreciate it,

    Bill

Bill those are again the replacement service strikers NOT original because you see the pin on the side . Just list yours saying nothing and let the buyer determine if they need those.

Roy - I'm aware that my door strikers are replacement service parts, what I'm trying to find out here are the years and application that these are for.

Again, if I sell, trade, or just give them away, or possibly modifying them by adding a rubber bumper, I just want to be absolutely certain that I'm not miss leading anyone in the event of their uses or applications...That is the last thing I want to do. As for an ebay auction is concerned and listing as up to the buyer will not work I been recently burned and had to refund money and eat $26.00 shipping and handling just because the buyer was not satisfied and wanted a full refund. I also stated in the auction as is do your homework before bidding and no refunds....But I had to use PAYPAL (ebays new requirement) and they have a different set of rules..."VERY CONFLICTING"...So I'm trying to play it safe and if I choose not to keep them, I need all the correct information.

        I appreciate it, Bill

I don't think your going to learn the years they apply to because of running changes and different suppliers to GM . Your best statement would be to say (GM replacement or second and third design) of the (original part) , If you think that doesn't cover you then throw them out>.

So, die cast striker and cad plate for the part that the two screws go through? My are OK but without the rubber bumpers. How does one restore to like new appearance?

Roy - OK, That may work, If I decide not to keep them, I will do what you suggest. I have already ordered the bumpers to add, but if I find a really nice set of original striker plates at the local swap meets, then the replacements will go to auction. I appreciate your patience, and always value your comments.

              Thank again, Bill

Keith - It depends on their condition. Can you post some pictures?

Thanks Bill, I will do that soon. Seems that the lower part that the screws goes through is rivited and has a different compostion than the main body. Let see what we can come up with.
