Re: '58 -'62 Striker plate for door

Can anyone tell me if these are correct for full size Chevrolet or just toss these and chalk it up as an experience? I appreciate it.

bill, the chrome isn't gonna make it but you can always drill em and tap em and put the bumpers in, and yes , i believe the version you have fits lots of chevys of the 50's,

As Doug said just drill them and add the bumpers ,but be sure there the first original design , if you post a pic. that would help

Doug - I appreciate your quick response. I might do what you suggested tapping them out and installing rubber bumpers.....but right now I'm still a little upset about being misguided. I rather sell these cheap or give these to someone who needs a set for their Chevrolet but will look for an original set that is correct for my application. You stated that the chrome will not make it, understandably so, but is the chrome correct for full size Chevrolet or Corvair? Last thing I want is to mislead someone.

Hope these turn out, they looked good on Test Forum. I was told that these are first issue originals. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

bill, they look nice, the only difference i can see from my originals other than the tapped hole for the bumper is the hole for the shaft that retains the plastic slider is visible, i think that may be a 2nd or 3rd reissue, compare it to my 62 in the attachment.

Doug - I'll probably tap and install rubber bumpers, but will keep my eyes open for a nice set later down the road. I bet it's hard to get the dimensions on where to drill & tap for that rubber bumper.......If you can, I would really appreciate it! If not no problem I'm definitely not in a hurry my project is only in its 15 year.....

                  Thanks, Bill ....ha ha...ah!!!....

wow, only 15 years, been a few change in the jg, here are some pics, i would put the holes up 2 1/8" from the bottom of the striker and the other seams to vary, the striker pictured is out just past half way, but the on on my car is just inside half way, so right in the center would work, good luck 8/32 tap by the way, hope this helps, i could always mail you one for a pattern if need be.

Ian - I didn't know about the third design being one piece....and a good idea using the full size Chevrolet rear doors.....very good. I'm located in Tampa and I need to take advantage of the four swap meets in my area before committing to an ebay auction. I'm sure there will be more where they came from. If I was working they would be gone...but need to tighten my belt on my play money... you know what I'm saying.

I really appreciate it Ian! All you guy's are great....should have used Discussion Board years ago, then I wouldn't be replacing sooo many wrong parts.....
