The NCRS Operational Manual for the 84 states that the ignition needs to be on for the light in the sunvisor vanity mirror to light up. This is not the case in my 84. I checked the connector and it is hot without the ignition switch turned on. Is this an error in the manual or is there something wierd about my car?

Re: 84 Vanity Mirror Light
Dave (19643) I checked out the operation of my 85's vanity lights before I posted. My 85's vanity lights did not operate unless the ignition was turned on.
What page in the 85's Helm's service manual is this information on if you have it handy?- Top

Re: 84 Vanity Mirror Light
I just checked my '84, an early one (under 5,000) and my vanity mirror light does work without the ignition on. It would make sense that your significant other would want to be able to use it while you're in the florist or somewhere similar buying her something and you took the keys with...at least that was how it was explained to me.- Top

Re: 84 Vanity Mirror Light
Thanks Walter, I am glad to hear that your 84 works the same as mine. This is contrary to what the NCRS Operations Manual and Judging Guide states. These are two great books everyone should own. They have been a great help to me as I attempt to restore this 84. It seems this light should be hot anytime, but again if someone forgot to turn it off it could drain the battery. I guess that is the logic of connecting it to the ignition switch. I guess this was not the case in some if not all the 84's.- Top
