    1970 Radio Speakers

I have installed the original factory radio back in my 1970 convertable only to find the front speakers are bad. I have called around the different aftermarket suppliers to find 8-10 ohm speakers nobody has them they are all 4 ohm. I am afraid to put them in because i don't want to damage the radio. Does anyone know where I can get 8-10 speakers? I believe they are 4X6.

    Les,

Pull the front speakers out, and have them "reconed." This is an inexpensive service which will give you your original 10 ohm speakers to reinstall and keep your radio happy.

    One vendor is here:

        Doug,

I'm "relatively" sure these are the replacements which are still serviced by GM. The connector differs from the originals, for those who care, but they will work just fine if you don't mind modifying the new connector to mate with your factory wiring harness.

          Hi Les,
You may want to give member Jerry Rudbeck a call. He's been pretty helpful to me in getting my 71 AM/FM radio and speakers working as they should.
