    65 Trim Tag Info Needed...

    Good Morning and Happy Easter!
I have a 1965 Roadster with a few questions about my trim tag that I have not been able to find the answers for.
Style 19 467 - What do these numbers indicate, notice the space between 19 and 467
Trim STD - I do have black vinyl, is that the code?
A-3663 Body - Please explain this, and does 3663 have to match my VIN or any other numbers?
I appreciate any help that you can provide.
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Happy Easter

    Style 19 ( 1 is for Chevrolet, 9 is for Corvette ) 467 is convertible ( 437 would have been a coupe )

    STD would be black vinyl.

Your body number, A 3663 indicates your body number and that your body was an AO Smith body. It will not match your VIN.

      Hi Andy,
Your trim tag probably has a G22 or G23 above the 19 467. That is the body build date. G was for the month of Feb. and the number is the day of the month.

Hi Page --- Wow; you must have data on an A-body within a couple of hundred bodies of Andy's convertible to call it that close .
        -----------------------------
I'm still waiting for someone to post a query about an early '65 S-body with trim tag STYLE 65_19437 (or 467). I've got examples of this format from SOP thru about 24th Nov [D24] with VIN 02988. My D8 coupe is one. Strangely there are some exceptions showing the expected 65_437 (or 67) sprinkled throughout, which makes one wonder if different workers did their "own thing".

This STYLE stamping anomaly is not mentioned in the '65 TIM&JG nor the Trim Tag book of Grenning / Sinor.

Tom, you nailed it. Thanks so much.

Page, you were close G27 - February 27th.

One more question please - Would you be able to identify the following code stamped on the front right cylinder head of a 327/350 engine with the block dated March 1966?
            10309HCH
            Thanks again.

The first character is either a "F" or a "T", not a "1"; in any event, the "HCH" suffix was only used in '66 full-size passenger cars with the 327/275hp (Holley carburetor) and Powerglide.

                Hey Andy !!

You ought to go check out the NCRS store and pick up a copy of the 65 judging manual ! There is tons of info in there and you'll learn tons of stuff about your car.

Of course, I'll always be glad to help out here, but the book is awesome. Plus, it supports our great organization.

                  John,
You are correct, the first character is a "T". You are the first person to identify that particular code with the "HCH" suffix. I have gone through quite a few code reference books, knowledgeable Corvette guys and even contacted GM. The engine is still a mystery with a March 3, 1966 code and casting #3858180 on the bell housing. The intake manifold is correct - #3844461. The Muncie 4-speed is original. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
                  Thanks,
                  Andy

I don't know the history of your car, but I would guess the engine was replaced and the individual who replaced the engine found a 66 327 to try and keep the car at least period correct with that replacement engine.

Thanks for your suggestions and answers. I knew the engine was replaced when I found the car, or actually it found me. I love to drive it year round whenever the weather permits. I'm looking forward to my third drive in it to "Corvettes of Carlisle" this summer.

                          Andy,

Is the engine a small block or a big block? Code F (Flint engine plant) is for a 327, code T (Tonawonda engine plant) is for big blocks. It couldn't be a 327 with a T code.

                          Joe

Actually Joe, it can be a 327 with a T code. Just not the original engine for a Corvette. Tonawanda built a lot of small block engines for the Chevrolet line-up.
