    Firewall clips for C3

I have a couple holes in my firewall that I thought were for missing firewall insulation plugs. Now that I look at the 1970 AIM in section 12, sheet A15, find number 4, it looks as though there are supposed to be clips there. One is located on the driver's side of the 'downslope' portion of indentation in firewall that accomodates the wiper motor. The other is located to the passenger's side of the 'triangle' indentation, up on the 'shelf'. Does anyone have pictures showing firewall with these clips in place so I can see what type of clips I should be looking for? Same question for wiring clips that go on top of ac box inside engine compartment.

Last question on clips... My car does not have two of the clips along the driver's side inner fender to hold the headlight vacuum & washer lines identified by AIM. One should have been mounted just above and slightly forward of the horn relay. The other is the one that mounts to the fender / hood lip adjacent to the power brake booster. I noticed the AIM says these were added sometime in December of 69, along with a clip style change for a couple of the clips. My car is a a May 15 build date, so it should have had these changes. But it doesn't. Does anyone else have a car with same clip arrangement?

    Re: Firewall clips for C3

There was a thread a couple of weeks (well maybe 3 or 4) about the clip that attaches to the hood drain gutter, and specifically what was used as an attachment for the clip. I posted a picture of the clip on mine, and now I can not post that picture again. The software running this site will only let me post a picture one time. You will have to search for that thread to see it.

Mine is held on with a aluminum rivet. It seems that later cars (1971 and 1972) use a pop rivet.

I looked for pictures of the other clips, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks Terry. I found that picture of the clip next to master cylinder. Mine does not have that clip, nor the other that was apparently added to assembly process. I am wondering if others don't have it as well.

I added a couple pictures of the 2 holes in firewall I was referring to. See enclosed. Steve

Is this the clip? Try checking the pictures on my webshots link below for more. Hope it helps.

No Steve, I don't now have any pictures of those areas. Nor do I have a picture of the clip you posted about earlier.

            Steve,
You need to find someone who owns or has access to a mid-May built 1970. During 1969, 1970 and into 1971 there were a lot of running changes tot he vacuum system and the kind of details you are asking about. Unless you can find a 1970 built within say 500 cars + or - of yours you will never know about these clips. Asking for such a car on this board might yield you results, but among the one to two thousand participants here I expect we have heard from all the 1970 owners among us.

That said I think the one on the passenger side of the wiper motor is fairly consistent. Mine has it (end of January build) and Kevin's 1971 has it.

I don't have AC on my car and there are no clips attached to the fiberglass heater box in the engine compartment.

I have to wonder, given all these missing clips, if someone didn't put a different nose on your car.
