    Teak wheel on a 67

I know that the steering wheel for a 67 is made differently from a 65-67 because of the 'overlap' at the back of the wheel. If you order a teak wheel to install on a 67 it says it comes with a spacer to make it fit. I already have a teak wheel from a 66, and it fits just fine. What is the purpose of the spacer? Does it have to do with the horn contact?

I installed a teak wheel on my 67 and did not install the spacer cause it didn't appear like I needed it. Have had it on for 2 years and works just fine.
    I love the teak wheel..

      James,

One of the suppliers of the teak wheels is producing a teak wheel for the 67 on an original 67 core.

The spacer would be to fill the space in the hub not filled by the overlap of the 67 wheel where it mounts to the hub.

The 65-66 wheels fit fine but don't fill the space in the hub.

      JR

PS. The 67 original wheel will not fit on the earlier hub.
