My 71 350/270 came to me with a freshly rebuilt Q-jet #17044226. Aside from being incorrect for my application, it seems to do the job for now until I aquire the correct unit. It does produce a single "hick-up" as the secondaries are activated. I have completely rebuilt the distributor and tuned the ignition system. No apparent vacuum leaks. Could this mis-matched carb be the culprit? Accelleration is good before and immediately after the hick-up. I am no wizard with the Q-jets so even the most elementary carb adjustment suggestions could be helpful. I'm also curious what the original application was for this carb. Happy Easter you all. Mike

Re: Carb Question
Mike- Dick Has You On The Right Track, The Spring Is On The Pass Side, The Spring Is Not Visable, the Adjustment Is Just Under The Air Horn Its A Very Small Allan Head Screw That Locks A Screw That Adjusts The Tension On The Spring, Dont Go Crazy Tightning This Screw, The Spring Is Very Small, Maybe A 1/4 To 1/2 Turn Should Do. Tighten The Spring Will Slow The Opening Of The Butterfly For The Secondarys.
I Beleive The Carb No. From The Factory Should Be A 7041202 For Automatic And 7041203 For 4 Spd. Hope This Make Since.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
