    Heat Shield and Bracket Problem

I am trying to put my ignition shield on my 60 Fuel Injection and it will not mount to my brackets. If I make it fit it will smash my plug wires down badly.
I have been injured and just got back to working on this and feel my memory is off.I hope I have the right brackets.
Does anyone have a picture of how the brackets go or maybe what I'm doing wrong?????
The plugs have straight boots on top of the cap, I think that is what ncrs calls correct. Is this right?
Thanks in advance, this is driving me crazy!

It IS a tight fit between the top of the distributor cap and the bottom of the RF shield! That's why the bottom of the cover was insulated with clear mylar plastic AND why Corvette designers adopted the 'low profile' version of the distributor cap for '63-65 FI Corvettes.

If you're NOT interested in factory concours authenticity here (judges looking for factory original distributor cap), then you can buy some additional clearance by swapping the original Delco D-308 cap for a D-310 (doesn't have to be a real McCoy Delco cap...an aftermarket equivalent of the D-310 works).

The D-310 has slightly shorter spark plug and coil wire towers than the standard cap. That buys you some extra overhead clearance...

Jack, I really appreciate your help on this. I do want to stay original all the way with this car.
If I force this shield on, it really....really smashes the plugs down. Do you think this is okay?

The solid-axle top shielding didn't have a mylar/plastic underneath--it was purely stainless. Getting plug wires with 90-degree boots on the distributor end as well as the spark plug end works best. The factory, oddly enough, just mashed them down.

Mike, thanks alot for the info. Another friend of mine said the same thing. Do they pass ncrs and where can you get them?
            Thanks again

To get the most points in judging--mash the straight ones down.
To have the most peace of mind and the least potential mechanical issues--get 90-degree boots.
