Re: C3 Safety Locking Motor Mounts

Looks like bolt part number 399803 is still available from GM. Can someone check to make sure that that number is the 4-1/4" vintage?

    Thanks,

    Bill

I did look at what I bought as an NOS part. It does have a part number but I will need a better pair of eyes to read it. I believe it is the PN you referenced as the GM # in the pic you posted.

Just as an aside. Were the bolts plated bright zinc or typical black/gray phosphate for all the mount hardware? Do you know what head marks I should have on the hardware?

      Thanks,

The GM #399803 bolt is black phosphate-finished. The flat washers are zinc plated and the self-locking nut is zinc plated. The 399803 is, according to GM, 4-7/16" long. I don't know what typical original headmarkings were.

I'd like to see photos of the mounts you're removing and, also, thel bolts that were used. If you can't post them, you could just e-mail them to me. I could then post them for you.

        Joe,

I will get a pic of the mount and the bolts. I threw away the broken mount and I should have known better. The passenger side will likely come off one night this week so I can get a picture.

The bolts are still available from GM. I am pretty sure I have the correct nuts and washers. I will post the GM head mark as soon as I receive the bolts.

Were the indented hex head bolts that attach the mount to the motor also black phosphated. I am assuming a number of head marks would be correct. I think I have seen anchor, sems, and some others. Mine appear to be CH or EH and black phosphate with captured lock washers. I have not cleaned them up yet.

        Thanks!
