Choke clip 1970 454 4spd?

Hello Guys,

Confused again! I have 1970 454 4spd. NCRS JM p.62 says choke rod clip should be "small black oxide clip that locks back on choke rod." Other sources say it should be a little "e clip." Help?

I know of no reason to doubt the JG which says both versions of the clip were used (lock back style through '70 and circular style for '71 and later). Looks to me like the circular style was a cost reduced version of the lock back clip, so it makes sense one was early the other late in terms of use...
