    67-68 speedminder buzzer replacement

Does anyone know of an adequate replacement? (for the speedminder buzzer) The parts guys nearby can't find anything in the computer that old, and they really don't know their way through the books, so I need someone else's help. Does Standard or someone else make one?
    Thanks in advance!

    Mike,

1361529 is the old part number but there was not a service replacment that I am aware of. I'll double check tomorrow to be sure.

I do know Camaro used this buzzer if this helps you. I did a 67 435 hp car in 1994 and of all things I ran the part number on the internet and found one at a place called Vitti. I do not have their phone number I looked just now! I did a google on them just now and found nothing at all.

If I find a service replacement I'll post again.

    Ernie

Mike - The 67 AIM calls out p/n 1361529 relay. The 1965-1973 Chevrolet Parts History shows 1361529 was replaced by p/n 1386278 on 10-68. The applications listed in the 1953-1972 Corvette Parts Book for p/n 1386278 relay in Group Number 9.762 are for the 67-69 Corvette. Pete

        Pete and Mike-----

The replacement GM #1386278 buzzer was discontinued without supercession in July, 1983. So, it's a "dead-end" there. The same buzzer was used on some Pontiacs and Buicks of the period but I don't know which applications. Most likely, though, it was for those also having a speed warning-type speedometer.

If you are looking for an original configuration unit, then you will have to look for NOS or good used of either of the aforementioned part numbers. Be advised, though, that I've seen these things sell for BIG $$$$$ on eBay. So, you can be sure it will come "dear".

If you are just looking for something to buzz when the speed exceeds the pre-set speed, then I think you have other options. With apprpriate modification and connections, I THINK that the 72-77 ignition lock buzzer, GM #6262663, could be made to work as a FUNCTIONAL replacement. However, I want to stress that I've never tried this and I don't know if it will actually work. The 6262663 is still available from GM, though, for about 35 bucks, GM list.

Anybody know if Echlin, Standard, or someone else has a listing for this?
          Thanks

            Mike,

Check out Long Island Corvette Supply 39-29D for 20 bucks. It's not the original in looks but works just like the original.
