The car you want, BEFORE you bid. Perform your due diligence prior to the actual sale. Lack of that results in all the negative comments you see on BJ and other auctions.

        Having FUN!
Compare the cars you like, there is a lot of variety and difference of opinion as to what is correct or proper.

I read where one of the 78 Pace Cars from the GM heritage collection will be sold. I'd like to see that car.

I went to BJ'S last October in Vegas. If you can afford it be sure to get a bidders pass so you can enjoy the free liquor and get down onto the floor. without that you are in the bleachers and you really can't get up close to the action. With a bidders pass you can go behind the stage area and see the cars as they come up to go onto the auction block.

I guess I will be in the bleachers. But I think it will be fun to see. I heard the bidders seats are about $500 each. A little rich for my blood.
I still intend to have a good time.

                  Joseph,

We are going to the Barrett-Jackson auction on Thursday as well, maybe Friday too.

This will be my first, just going to see the cars

I too will watch it on SPEED, but, you can check the listings for thurs., Fri. and Sat. on the BJ website. I did, looking for that GM Heritafe 78 P.C.. It is lot #675 and is one of 4 actually used at Indy. I would not use the results of it's sale (or not) to gauge value of production P.C.'s because this one is modified and on a scrap title, i.e. not for street use.

                        Joe,
At Scottsdale maybe 3 years ago the bidders pass price of $350 was for two persons. Could be that the current event is also for two persons therefore taking some of the sting out of the cost. At Scottsdale, the bleachers would not nearly accomodate all the general admission attendees.
                        Best regards,

Believe the only broadcast scheduled on SPEED is for Saturday - some 21 hours worth if I heard them correctly. The BJ website lists the cars scheduled for each of the three days.

Re: Going to Barett Jackson Thurs.

The Barrett Jackson Florida auction bidder's pass is priced at $250 and includes the following:

                            Bidder Amenities
                            • Bidder ID/Paddle (Adult admission for Preview Day April 8, and auction days April 9, April 10 and April 11)
                            • Guest Credential (Adult admission for Preview Day April 8, and auction days April 9, April 10 and April 11)
                            • Preferred Parking Pass in Reserved Parking Area
                            • Access to Bidder Seating Area
                            • Hosted Bidder Bar throughout the Event
                            • Invitation for 2 to the Opening Night Gala on the evening of April 8th.
                            • Barrett-Jackson Event Catalog
The above is from their site. The Scottsdale and Las Vegas auction bidder's passes are $500 and include the same as above. You don't need a bidder's pass to get a close up look at the auction vehicles or to attend the auction. Thre's a fee, but it's $28.50 for all three days but you don't get any of the "treats" as listed above.

"ENJOY FREE LIQUOR". about 10 years ago, our local antique auto club took a tour bus to atlantic city , nj, for the Feb auto auctions. one of the most frugal club members on the bus heard about the free drinks if ya had the bidders pass. think the pass was about 25 bucks for both days. Old Tom got the pass and showed up at daybreak, whence he commenced to avail himself of Cutty Sark. By 2 in the afternoon, he had quite a buzz on and was the owner of a mid 1980 Caddilac Stretch Limo for about 3K. the next morning, he returned to the auction and discovered the Limo was about 10 feet longer than his garage. he ordered a coke , put the Caddy back on the auction block where it brought about 2K.i rearely let him forget of the experience. No such thing as free lunches of free liquor. mike
