    C2 Headlight Motor Rebuild question

I rebuilt the headlight motors on my 65 over the weekend.

I noticed the large concave washer for the main drive gear was installed differently in each motor.

I decided to install the concave so it doesn't hug the drive gear but instead holds it in position. The outside edge of the concave washer is up against the housing and keeps the gear from sliding forward.

Was that the right way to install it ? Made the most sense to me.

I reinstalled everything and they work great.

Thanks Paul. This was a real easy and rewarding project. I took my time and spent about 3 hours doing them. Could probably do them in 1/2 that time now.

        Mark,
In the Fall 2007 Vol 34 # 2 Corvette Restorer there is an article you may be interested in.It is titled LAZY HEADLIGHTS, page 20. It goes into great detail in how to recondition C2 headlight switches. My brother reconditioned his following the article and his headlights rotate quicker. His motors were both reconditioned prior to doing the switches. I see that you joined after this was published. If you cannot get it from another member let me know and I will get it to you. Mike

Michael - I am happy with the speed. I'll have someone knowledgeable look at them open and close. They open very smooth. The passenger side was very slow and would stop 1/2 way. It now opens quickly and slightly faster than the Driver side. They both seem to close at about the same speed.

I'll buy the C2 Restorer CD to look at the article. Thanks for offering it.
