In need of a bit of help...62 Corvette value

    Hi all,

A friend recently approached me regarding a documented one owner 62 that's for sale. At this point all I know is the car is a base model, 3 speed with hard top. He said the owner's daughter is sending it out to have it preped for selling and she is wanting it painted. I told him to tell her please don't. It's only original once. Having it painted might hurt the value a bit.

Can anyone please give me a basic idea as to current values on documented one owner average miles 62's with base options are selling for? My friend is wanting to buy and doesn't want to be cheated or unfair to the family. All help is greatly appreciated. I will post more info when it becomes available.

    Thanks,
    Craig W.

Well without seeing the car, i'd say there is one heck of a range of price it could fall into. Yes original paint etc, provided its decent will help value. But there are ALOT of factors like orig engine, and other major parts. Also if its been cut on, or wrecked and repaired, etc. This is true for any car really.

At least post some pictures so the 62 nuts can steer you a little better.

I really dont know alot about C1's, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Seriously, get some pics on here, and I dont mean a 20' er shot.. Put some decent pics on here and im sure youll get some good answers. Even better find a C1 guy and take him with to go look in person.

Ron is right too many variables without seeing the car or at least a bunch of close up photos, both above and under the car, to give any kind of value. You belong to the Carolinas chapter, surely someone there can go look at the car with you. If not I travel to Statesville about once a month, let me know if I can be of any help.

Guys I know there are a tremendous amount of variables that go into buying a unrestored original. I am just looking for a range assuming all components are there and it's in fair condition. Based on these assumptions then I can go up or down when it's determined what the car actually has on it from the factory. I owned a 61 and did a Top Flight restoration on it several years ago so my overall understanding of these years..61 and 62 are faitly high.

        Thanks,
        Craig

Based on your assumptions and lets say it's a base motor since it's a 3 speed. Driver condition, original motor, needing paint is in the $34,000 to $45,000 range. I would want to own it on the lower end of the range in today's depressed market.

Of course you need to see it to really know. But there's a starting point since I do follow the market.
