I would like to install a Mallory Unilite electronic ignition kit. It calls for a ballast resistor. Is there a ballast resistor built into the coil or some other place in 1972? Thanks.

Robert-----
There is no ballast resistor, per se, used on any 1968 or later Corvette. Instead, a special resistance wire is used. This is the wire with the light colored, fabric covering which installs to the coil. I do not know if this is compatible with a Mallory conversion, or not. However, it is compatible with the Breakerless electronic ignition system conversion. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

See "Figure 2" in the instructions .pdf at the Mallory link below - it shows Unilite wiring with the OEM resistance wire like you have.
