i am restoring a C2 hard top and i have discovered the factory used an abundance of grey putty. what is a good product to remove it? while i am at it what is good to use for the "amber" hard glue they use on the bottom rear glass metal frame? and last where can i purchase replacment caulking rope.

I responded to your above question. It looks like you have an original top and the glass has never been removed.
It is so easy to use a razor blade and just replace the gasket it's worth the cost of the gasket to just finish the job.
Most paint stores have the caulking but it's easier to find a person with a high pressure caulk gun.

the gasket and window came out with little effort by pushing in the inner lip and using a panel popper to pull glass forward. it was indeed a virgin. the grey caulking is like the black butyl we use in my shop. it comes in a roll like rope with paper on it, you can see the renants of paper in the factory caulking so it would be my guess they just unrolled it and layed it on. they were not too concerned with how much they used.- Top
