    T-10 Side Cover Identification

Appreciate any thoughts on this side cover.

I just picked up a 1960 T-10 and looking for some help to identify the main case side cover. It looks like the correct configuration to me, only that it apears to be cast iron and not aluminum.

    Thanks in advance

    Joe

Side cover is correct and the tail should be aluminium the main case should be cast for a 1960. The full alloy is 61 onwards Joe. Looks good to me.

My '59 T10 (known original) has an aluminum side cover and an iron case.

Alum side cover on mine too.

This 1960 Corvette was 290HP (Code CS 283). The car and engine birthdays were just last month, in March.

Side cover should be aluminum. T-10's were used on other GM cars, Studebakers (I believe), etc. back in those days.

all c-1 t-10's, with the exception of the VERY EARLY 57's, used an aluminum side cover. the other GM brands used a cast iron side cover in the late 50's and early 60's.mike

I'm with the two Mikes, which (when they agree) is a very safe place. Early aluminum side covers will appear without the buttresing ribs - 1957 and part of 1958.

"without buttressing ribs" is lawyer BS. correct terminology is "lack of gussets" ya big dummy.regards, mike

Also, isn't the oval (0) boss for the fill plug (instead of the round [o] boss) a feature of very early main cases?
