In addition, GM submitted a letter to dealers on 14 Dec 62 that explained;
"Due to a recent work stoppage our Corvette schedule was drastically reduced; Therefore, the convertible model 867 allotment has been depleted until the beginning of March production".
I'm not exactly sure how that may have affected production or the mix of coupe/conv for Jan-Feb.
Also, on 9 November, "Red interior 490 C & D This trim is approximately one week behind in production. This stiuation should exist through the next two weeks".Last edited by Michael H.; April 2, 2009, 07:35 AM.- Top

Re: Order date to delivery date time,63 ?
Michael,
That's an interesting GM letter to dealers with regard to convertible production in '63
The research I've done to date on 1963 production sequence seems to support it.
When comparing the BODY numbers from the trim tags of some cars I've recorded, there is an increase of cpe production vs. rds for that time frame.
Coupe production was ahead of roadster production from the start but the rate increased after Dec. '62.
In early Jan. '63, the gap was about 460 cars with coupes leading the way.
By late Jan. '63 the gap was about 630 cars and by mid Feb. 770.
Early March had the Cps ahead by about 950 cars and by mid March 1963 1,155+ more Coupes were produced than Rds.
It then evens out with conv production overtaking cpes from April on with a push at the end.

Re: Order date to delivery date time,63 ?
As noted in another thread, my order went in the first week of April (5th)and the car was delivered to and invoiced on the 31st of July at the dealers (over 17 weeks). It too is a roadster, built on July 9th. I do not recall the specifics of the extended lead time other than I was told to expect that. There weren't any specific option shortages, but I believe that the demand for the summer picked up, specially for roadsters.
