Bought a '63 leaf spring, got this instead. What is it???

At first glance, I thought that it was a nice '63 leaf spring. I started to take it apart yesterday and found it to have 10 leafs. It doesn't appear to have had a extra leaf added for support. All of the leafs have ~2" overlap. The length of the first leaf is 13". What is the length of the first leaf on a 'real' '63 leaf spring?

Irby, my recollection is that in the 1970's GM produced an over-the-counter spring for the 63 vette. I also recall that GM thought the original 63 spring was a little weak therefore they added an extra leaf. Saying that, it should be a GM spring but it has one to many leaves.

Mine is still out of the car so I can measure each leaf. Please measure all to length and width and maybe you can create 63 9 leaf spring. We can compare lengths.

Mine is bolted together so I measured all the leaves across the top leaf.

From top to bottom----> 10 5/8----15 3/8----20----24 3/4----29 1/2----34 3/8----40 1/4----46 1/6----51 3/8.

It looks like my 1977 rear spring. It has 10 leaves in it. JMHO.

Hi Harry, Thanks a lot.
Across the top leaf, mine measure:
13 1/4, 17, 19 1/2, 23 1/2, 27 1/2, 34 1/2, 39, 43, 47, 52.
I think I'm going to contact the guy I bought it from and see if he has a real '63 spring.
