C-1 Body Dolly Made from Wood

I have a C-1 Corvette(1956) which at the present time is getting extensive body work. When it comes home I would like to take the body off the frame and put it on a dolly while I refurbish the chassis. I have seen body dollies made of aluminum but since I only plan to use it once I would like to make one out of wood. Does anyone have some recommendations for plans to build a dolly or where I can get them. Thanks in advance!

Check the archives on this site or at other forums. I have seen them posted. For mine, I just made it from 2 x 4 lumber with some 6" wheels. A simple box with an extension to hold up the front. Nothing elaborate, it took less than 2 hours to make and about $125 in parts. You can design your own by just knowing the body mount bolt hole distances.... Just don't make it too high or body work get tough.

Noland Adams, " the Body Lift Workbook" ($9.00) has plans for wood dollies. Build the one that supports the front, as the body may be on the dolly longer than you expect and the saging of the front makes the door gaps a little harder to adjust when the time comes....

I made one of wood several years ago for my '56 & '57. Worked quite well, had 8" wheels on it and I could maneuver it around quite easily.
