    Help ID Wheels

Please help ID these wheels. I believe they are 15 x 6. Here is what is stamped by the valve stem:

    14 FL 9 M28

Are they correct (or will they work) for a 65-67 corvette?

    Thanks

      Rob -

Can't tell you if they'll "work" without more information (offset, etc.), but they're definitely not correct; a '65-'66 Corvette steel wheel looks like the photo below, and original wheels didn't have anything stamped adjacent to the valve stem.

        John,

        Thank you very much.

I assumed they weren't original due to the markings by valve stem. I'm wondering if they are over the counter replacements - or all wrong entirely for 66. Clearly, I'm no expert. How does one measure the offsets, etc. to know if they'll work?

        Thanks again for helping.

I am fairly certain that these are early to mid 1970s Chevelle / Malibu wheels (FL code). I can't find the reference at the moment, but it should be listed in the Chevy by the Numbers book. I have a set of these on my 56 Corvette.

I believe that it would clear disc brakes with no problem. I am thinking that these are the wheels that I see on Ebay as "cheap replacements" for 65 - 66 Corvette wheels.

Ed is correct on all counts -- Colvin's book shows 15 x 6" Chevelle 1975 (maybe later as well, but his 70-75 book ends there). 0.50" offset. Compares to 0.44" for '65-6 steel stock Corvette wheel.

I have 2 of these (one was spare on my '65 when purchased in '88; other is temporarily mounted on same car -- no clearance problems.

              Wayne,

Thanks! What about hubcaps? Would there be any issues with them fitting?
