    Valve Covers on 1981

My car is for the most part original. Is is typical to see dull silver overspray from the intake manifold on the edges of the black magnesium valve covers?

There's no overspray on the covers on my 81. I took a quick look at some pictures I took the day I brought it home (I bought it new), and I can't see any on them then, either. By the way, mine is a Bowling Green car.

      Thanks for your response.

I've owned my car since 1985 and I do not believe it was tampered with before I owned it. My car was built in St Louis.

The intake manifold was painted at the engine assembly plant, Flint in this case. Where the body was assembled should make no difference in the details fo the engine assembly. Remember, even in 1981, humans did the painting at Flint.
