    Found: One Owner 62

I could never dream of what has happened in the last 3 months.

I was able to acquire a very original 61, 2 owner local car from a guy I play golf with. Original invoice and paperwork from the local Chevy dealer. It's a real Black/Silver and Red car. It's very unusual with no heater or radio. This was the kind of find I had always dreamed about finding with the only disappointment being a 230 3 speed.. I'm thrilled with the car though.

Then yesterday a friend while on a service call to a home saw a Corvette in the customers garage. He said he was the original owner and the car was bought at the local Chevy dealer. He also mentioned he needed to sell it. Can you imagine how quickly I got there?

Thsi car is so cool although repainted in the 80's 327/340, 4 speed, posi, off road exhaust, radio, white with red interior, 98,000 miles. Oh the surprise when he pulled out the warranty book, owners manual, radio sheet and something I have never seen, a dealer copy of the order form that looks like a mini build sheet. It's from the same Chevy Dea;ership as the 61!

The car is mostly original and on its original title! He is digging out old photos for me and I'm hoping to get a photo of him at the dealership (still here) along with the salesman that sold it. The salesman is still here and went on to have his own Chevy dealership.

I'm so out of room and money! Just goes to show there are still undiscovered cars out there. Keep searching!!

Did you buy the car? What was he asking for the car?
    Great story,

Yes, I bought the car. Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the origianl title? I know they will take it from me when applying for the new title.

Also, on the 61 they absolutely refused to put down as actual mileage even though I had a certified letter from the previous owner stating it was original. Anyone lese had this problem in Florida?

I am not sure of the morality/legality of this, but you could have the previus owner apply for a lost title.

Personally I wouldn't put them through this. I would ke it to any art place (work in my case) and get a very high quality scan (both sides of course).

                  Congrats, you're living the dream!

Color double-sided photo copy of the original title. That's what I did.

Bob ,I've had several original titles returned to me from the Pa DOT. I simply contacted the antique/classic division (not the regular tags division) and told them I wanted the originals retuned. The clerk had no problem with my request and informed me that she would have to stamp the words " Historical Document- Non Negociable PA Dept. of Trans, Bureau of Motor Vehicles" on them. It's actually hard to see the stamping because the ink is almost the same color as the paper.

Worth a try! (I did make two sided color copies just in case)

Thanks Kevin. I think I'll go to the main courthouse office and try that. I'll let you know what happens.

I made color copies of the MSO for my 2008 before I turned it in to get the title.
A fellow NCRS member Massachusetts got a micro film copy of the MSO for the 1973 he bought new, and still owns. He encouraged me to try that for my 1970, and I just might one of these days.

Just go to the DMV and ask them. I did this on my one owner 72 car and they wrote "canceled" on it and handed it back to me when I applied for the new title. Very easy in Michigan.

Bob, many states will "reissue" a title if one is lost. As an example someone might make a copy of their title anticipating they will have to give up the original, then they may lose the original one by accident and request a reissue based upon the copy. I assume if the DMV will not do that someone could look real hard and find the original one, but I bet if one is lost a reissue will come through.

Also, if you bought it out of state some states do not require you title it in their state, but you must register it in that state.
