    1971 CEC solenoid bracket

It took some time, but I finally found a correct solenoid, at the right price, for my 71 LS5 CEC system. Very timely since there was a great
    Restorer article about the system.

I now have everything I need to get the system up and running except....... The solenoid bracket and the solenoid nut. (A nut came with the solenoid, but I must have put it in a safe place so I wouldn't loose it.........)

Is the bracket the same as the ones used on later carbs to support the solenoid?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Tom

The solenoid bracket for your application was used for 71-74 Corvettes with Rochester Q-Jet carb and utilizing a solenoid as well as most other 71-73 Chevrolets with Q-Jet carb and utilizing a solenoid.

I've purchased passenger car Q-jets for low prices just to get the bracket. Even more rare is the correct screw that holds the bracket to the carb.

          Patrick,

Taking Joe's advise I went searching around the garage. Found a bracket along with what I think is the correct screw. What do you think?

Part number on the bracket is 42682

          Thanks,

          Tom

            Ding! Ding! Ding!

            We have a winner!

            Nice condition, too.

"42682" is not the part number. However, it is a DERIVATIVE of the part number which is GM #7042682. That is the Rochester Products Division-assigned GM part number for the 71-74 Corvette with Q-Jet solenoid bracket.

I have a box of old Quadrajet parts from carbs that have been scrapped over the years and once you mentioned a "special screw" I immediatly remembered I had one of them somewhere. Didn't take long to find it!

                Thanks

I now have all of the pieces to the CEC puzzle. Time to start putting it together.
