Help with TI wiring - part 2

Ok, first of all, thanks to Clem and Myron for forwarding to me the service bulletin and trouble shooting information after my earlier post.

It seems that the "complete" engine wiring diagrams that I have are set up for standard ignition and the separate TI wiring diagram that I does not show the wires except for the TI wires.

I am also not sure how many wires should be on the positive side of the coil. (let's exclude the RF capacitor for this purpose). Right now, I have two. One wire is leading from the starter solenoid that is black at the point where it exists wiring harness at the firewall toward the engine. (I am not 100% what color it is on the starter solenoid side, nor whether it is on S or R post). The other wire is the the end of the long resistance wire that is part of the TI harness - it is mostly yellowish, but probably originally white. It does have an end which is definitely consistent with a coil wire end.

Is it correct to have connected to the positive side of coil two wires (excluding capacitor) - one to starter solenoid and one for the TI harness resistance wire?

hi there there should only be one wire on either side of the coil . the plug coming from the distributer on the harness side has 2 wires coming out the back of the plug ,one goes to the distributer the other goes to the resistor bypass at the starter . in your diagram it is the 18 gauge pink wire that says to the engine harness . .i just got my 65 ti working this week and it works great good luck with yours.Don.

      Don, thanks.

That however leaves me with a black wire which leads from the solenoid which I now do not know what to do with. hmm...

It has been several months since I looks at the routing of the wires on the starter, this will be fun....

thanks, that bottom diagram is much better than the one I had. For the wire that it says goes to positive coil wire on base engine - is this saying that it exists on all cars but just goes unused on cars with TI??

Brad, Be careful, there is a black (ground) wire that goes from the wiper motor and heater blower to the starter bolt for ground. That may be your black wire as it is in the engine harness...

                Tim,
Thanks for the advice, I think that I do remember the wire you are talking about when I was checking the majority of wiring a few months back, i will double check for that one though.
