63 wiper motor, original or not?

How do I know if my wiper motor is original or not? I am thinking of sending it off to be restored and tested. Here is what is on the side "DELCO APPLIANCE ROCHESTER N.Y. MADE IN USA D-4904635 PAT PEND"

I have tested the switch in the cluster and it test out contunity like the article in the Restorer Magazine says. I then bench tested like the service manual tells you to, kind of, very confusing the way it is worded. I cleaned armature and now I do get the armature to move. I just don't want to get it back in and find out it still does not work and don't want to spend $200.00 for restoration if it is not the original. The wipers use to have a mind of there own?

Wow, I was just going to get new seats and carpet and the cluster cleaned up!

Greg, do you see the number 5044518 anywhere, if you do that should indicate a 63 motor. Search the archives on that number as it was used for 64 and 65 also.

Pay attention to the use of the one piece Washer valve unit, used in all '63, and for '64 but not in any '65-up, part number in the AIM changed for '65, but the stamping on the bottom of the motor may not have.

Plus, remember the part number called out in the AIM which is the factory original is for the WSW ASSEMBLY... That's the wiper motor with its bolt-on washer.

If memory serves this item wasn't carried by service. They stocked wiper motors and washers separately so you could replace the individual defective component of the system. The only time the complete assy (wiper motor and washer) appeared was at the factory assy line...

All thanks for the response. Harry I did find the number on the end of motor 5044518. Also read an old post from 2003. I also found another string of letters under, are these the date? and if so does anyone know how to read this, this is what it said "ASS 7 Y", the seven was very small, almost looked like a apostrophe?
