    1979 Thermal vacuum switch p/n ?

    Hi Guys,
Does any one have the part numbers for the three vacuum ported switches for a 79 with an L48 optioned engine. I have a part number for the efe and the egr control. They seem to have been given a new number, I am still working on a good number for those two switches. I can find no number what so ever for the trapped spark thermal vacuum switch located in the thermostat outlet. Any one looked for these parts in the past?
    Thanks In Advance

I know of only TWO ported vacuum switches used for 1979. The first is the forward intake manifold-mounted EGR switch. This switch was originally known as GM #373510 and it's still available from GM under that part number. This piece is also manufactured by Standard Motor Products under their number PVS-27.

The second is the EFE switch mounted on the TOP of the thermostat housing. This was originally GM #3041857 and later GM #14009008. I show the latter as being discontinued and I can't find a new number. You can obtain a functional replacement as manufactured by Standard Motor Products under their part number PVS-108 or NAPA/Echlin #CRB229156. Even IF there is a new GM number for this piece, I can virtually guarantee you it will now be the exact same piece as the Standard Motor Products part.

As far as a third switch goes, it MAY be that some 1979 L-48's did use a second switch in the thermostat housing. I can't find anything to confirm that. As far as GMSPO is concerned, there was no such switch. However, IF such a switch was used, I suspect it's GM #3031549. This switch is also GM-discontinued and I can find no new number. However, it is available as manufactured by Standard Motor Products under their number PVS-16 or NAPA/Echlin #CRB21029. Understand that I'm not saying that such a switch was used OR that if one was used that this is definitely the one that was used. I'm only saying IF such a switch was used, then this is the only one I can come up with.

      Joe,
Thanks for looking, this car has a Canadian back ground. I do not know how that impacted the emissions and vacuum hose details. It all looks to be original to the car. The two switch part numbers you referenced for the egr and efe 373510 and 14009008 respectively are the numbers I was working with. Thanks for your help with the third. The AIM only shows the routing of the hoses and shows two switches in the thermostat outlet. It appears there was an engineering change request around May the 8th. I know the AIM was never the final authority, how ever the outlet part number for 79 is 469519 and has two threaded holes above the thermostat. Thanks for your help!!! It looks like I will head to NAPA and see what they have in stock.
      Thanks Again
      Brett
