    Striker Plating

After spending an hour in the archives I have not come up with any hints on how to replate the Striker Assembly On my C-2. Can it be seperated and Reattached ? Taped off ?

In other words how do I get the Shim and face all nice and Shiny without plating the center and still have the Riveted look when done ?

I am hoping some of you guys have done this . Please speak slowly for I am "mechanically impaired" and or provide pictures whenever possible !!

    Thanks ,

    Jim

Just take it off. If comes apart and the the plastic catch and spring ect out. Send out to be cad plated with other hardware. Make a note of what shim size is on each door it may be different. I'm not sure why you want the center different. It would have been plated the same.

      Hi Guys
I believe the inner and outer striker pieces were zinc plated while the middle piece was natural die cast aluminum.

        Mike ,

That is correct, and the reason for my question.

Can the mechanism and the middle plate be disconected and put back together ?

The plater can mask that section.

            Greg,

I assume from your post picture you also restore antennas. If this is true please send me a PM.

            Thanks ,
            Jim

I've always plated the whole striker. I never noticed that the plate was different.

                Re: Striker Plating

This thread was refered to me becasue I am having the same delimma about the strike plates on my 63. When I showed them to my plater, he said you couldnn't plate aluminum and steel together, and masking (which he doesn't do) might not even work.
Can anyone who has done this as an assebly give me the name and contact info of their plater, so I can go to them with my striker assemblies? I really don't want to disassemble them.
                Thanks,
