Could somebody please post a picture of the frame stencil. The judging manual states it should have the part number and the date of the assembly of the frame. What is the frame part number and how would you know the frame date. The car was built 1/28/1971. Thanks alot in advance as always. Paul

Re: 1971 Frame stencil Picture & Info
Paul,
Here is a photo of the original frame stencil and markings on my 71. Quality is poor, I know, but you can see the stencil layout. when I restored my frame I bought a stencil from Qaunta. The other shots are of the shim markings on my frame, which I reproduced. The last picture is my 71 chassis at the 94 NCRS Regional in Texas afetr I was finished (almost).

Re: 1971 Frame stencil Picture & Info
Paul, just a week ago there was a thread all about early C3 frame stencils. I'm not sure if there were any '71 pics, but it might be worth checking out.- Top

Re: 1971 Frame stencil Picture & Info
Paul,
Frames were made well ahead of the production date of the car and, I believe, in batches. Someone correct me here if I'm wrong on this. Generally, there's a six month window on dates, but I'm not certain it applies to frames. I don't usually judge that area.

Several of us took the time to post photos of 70 and 71 frame stencils about a month ago. I believe the thread was titled 70 frame stencil. Your question will be answered there.- Top

Re: 1971 Frame stencil Picture & Info
Hi Paul,
Here are the pictures from my 71, #6589, mid-January build. Remember the frame was upside down when it was stenciled.

Re: 1971 Frame stencil Picture & Info
I will assume that as long as the frame build date is with 6 months it is OK. There seems to be no logic to the numbers I have seen. Examples:
Car build date Feb 9, 1971--Frame date 9/24/1970
Car build date Mid January 1971--Frame date 10/26/1970
If my car was built January 23, 1971 I can just pick a date within 3-4 months???

Paul
That's what I would do. during production most parts are dated within 2 to 3 weeks of the build date. The 6 months is for the odd-ball part that was in the back of the stack. Frames were made in batches, I believe and can vary from a few weeks to a few months.
