My 1959 hood has the backing plates that receive the hood hinges adrift and not secured to the hood frame any more. Does anyone know who is reproducing the backing plates for the hood hinges? I checked the usual Paragon, Corvette Central and Mary Jo but did not see them available. Also what is the best approach to seperate the hood skin from the hood frame to repair properly? thanks in advance scott

Re: c1 hood hinges
I found the same thing on my 60 the hard way. I jiggled the hood upside down on a table top until i could see the threaded holes. Then stick a bolt in them. To reinstall the hood, replace the bolts with longer bolts with the head removed. This allows you to get the bolts reinstalled. By snugging up the bolts, the hood can be adjusted until aligned properly. Hope this makes sense. One person can install the hood if you have an engine hoist or other means to hang the back of the hood in place.- Top
