    after market Fuel injection question

I installed a Edelbrock Pro Flo XT fuel injection on my 75..When i jump on it,it boggs really bad..Things i noticed....Put a fuel pressure guage on the rail and it shows 50 psi while idleing..When i jump on it 20 psi...The pump is kinda noisy and not really close to the tank like they tell you to do..Pump working to hard because of the distance from the tank? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ken

is the pump below the fuel tank as electric pumps need to be kept primed. is the fuel pump pickup in the tank staying under fuel on acceration. G forces cause the fuel to run away from the pump if the line is too long on hard accelleration and the pump has to overcome this.

Clem...The pump is located on the frame right behind the front wheel..It is below the tank but it is also angled up alittle as it follows the frame.Do you think the angle is part of the problem? Thanks

        Ken,

I put a pro flo on a 69 Coupe back in 99 and specifically remember the instructions saying that the pump must be mounted as close to the tank as possible. I put it on the passenger rear frame rail just up from the sending unit. It is a "Push" pump and not designed to pull the fuel through the line.
We put it on a 350 w/a 383 crank and it had phenominal torque.

        Hope this helps, Rich.

move the pump as close as possible to the tank for the reasons posted above by Rich. also mke sure you use a heavy gauge wire for the wiring as i have seen problem with electric fuel pumps because of too small a gauge wire not allowing enought current to flow to the pump. on race cars i always used a rely to power the pumps directly from the battery.

Moved the pump to the back frame rail just below the tank..What a difference...But the pump is still making alot of noise so i am going to change it..The car really plants you back in the seat..I think edelbrock's estimate of 15 hp gains is a bit low..0 to 60 times had to drop 1 1/2 sec..

a friend has a 427 CI all aluminum small block in his C-4 with this injection and it flys. mount the pump in rubber to stop the noise but make sure you ground it.
