How can I recognize a 60 290hp fuel inj. tach? The redline should be 6500, is the cable speed twice or normal when it is feed from the distributor instead of the generator?

The 290HP would be twice cable speed. There are early and late versions on 60 tachs. The early used white lines and numbers and the late was pale green. -

If the tach is operated off the distributor (high horse) it should have printed on the back of the tach, "Twice the cable speed"

Bill, All FI distributors turn 1/2 engine speed. How did you get to be a board member.
