61 4 speed linkage finish

Hi Guys,

I am rebuilding my 61 fuelie. I purchased a NCRS 61/62 Judging Manual in an attempt to bring my car up to Judging standards while I have it all apart. I purchased a correct 4 speed shifter and linkage (used). I could not find in the Manual how it is to be finished. The actual linkage looks like it was originally the same basic semi gloss black (Krylon) used on the rest of the black surfaces on the car. The rest of the linkage, namely the shifting arms, in an unfinished metal surface. Any expert advice on this would be appreciated.

I'm not a Judge...But I can't remember any paint being used on the shifter... The linkage (etc) had a black oxide appearance....

I looked at it again and I think you are right. It is not paint but Black Oxide.
