Re: 58 outside mirror location
Ron,
Your 58 came with only one mirror so how many holes do you have in the door anyway?
If there is only one set of holes, that has to be them. There should also be a nut plate on the inside of the door for the mirror.

Re: 58 outside mirror location
Joe, thanks for your answer, but the holes in the door were repaired during the painting process. the mirror that had been installed had larger bolt pattern that the corvette mirror I bought to install. I can't understand why someone would have done this, the rest of the car had no modifications. thanks- Top

Ron,
Look under with a flashlight and mirror. That should tell you something. If the hole pattern is different you should find a new set of holes. If there is only one set of holes it has to be the originals.

Re: 58 outside mirror location
Ron:
Here are measurements from my '59:
The front pencil mark is 2-1/2" back from a square corner
The rear pencil mark is back 3-5/32" back from a square corner.
The front hole is 1-31/32" from the edge using a square as shown.
The rear hole is 1-7/8" from the edge.
The holes should be 1-3/4 apart; if not, something is wrong.
The holes are 1/4"
By "square corner" I am trying to eliminate any rounding of the fiberglass at that leading edge.
